What is a coincard?
A coincard combines a coin with a printed presentation card. The card may include information about the coin, its theme, the issuing country and the official issuing authority.
Coincards are commonly used for collector-quality euro coins, including commemorative issues. The coin is usually held in a sealed plastic blister, which protects it from fingerprints and scratches.
The coincard itself can be part of the collectible, but its packaging does not by itself determine the coin's rarity or value. Some collectors keep coincards intact, while others prefer loose coins in an album.

Frequently asked questions
Short answers to the most common questions about Coincard.
Often, because coincards usually contain BU or Proof coins in protected condition and have a lower mintage than the circulation version.
Most collectors do not. Opening the blister can damage the card and the coin, and an intact coincard is generally more desirable.
