What is a euro coin set?
A coin set, also called a mint set or year set, is an official product that contains several coins in protective packaging. Most euro coin sets contain all eight denominations of a country for a particular year, sometimes with a commemorative coin or medal added.
Sets are usually offered in Brilliant Uncirculated or Proof quality. For some years and countries, the coins in a set are the only way to obtain certain denominations, because they were not produced for circulation in that year.
There are also special sets, such as starter kits that were sold when a country introduced the euro. Keeping a set in its original packaging helps to preserve the condition of the coins.
